It was a tremendous honor to be invited by the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IEEE GRSS) to participate in its Professional Member Spotlight interview series.

Following the interview, IEEE GRSS published the feature on its official news website and shared it across its official social media channels, allowing my research journey to reach researchers, students, and professionals throughout the global remote sensing community.

The interview was conducted by Madeleine Dawson from the Ocean Remote Sensing Lab, University of Miami, and provided an opportunity to reflect not only on my recent research but also on the experiences, mentors, and collaborations that shaped my journey into GeoAI.

Rather than focusing on a single publication, the conversation explored the people, institutions, and ideas that have influenced my academic career—from my early experiences at GISTDA, through my postdoctoral research at Chulalongkorn University, to my current role at the College of Computing, Khon Kaen University.

From Thailand to the Global GeoAI Community

During the interview, we discussed my research journey and how my interests gradually evolved from computer vision into Earth Observation, Remote Sensing, and Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI).

One of the major highlights was the story behind the development of Kernel-Adaptive Optimization (KAO), a new optimization algorithm published in IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (IEEE TGRS).

Beyond discussing the technical contributions of KAO, the conversation explored broader topics, including:

The future of GeoAI and Earth Observation
Building trustworthy and responsible Artificial Intelligence
Scientific curiosity and lifelong learning
International collaboration in remote sensing research
Developing AI technologies that create positive societal impact

The interview also reflects on how interdisciplinary research can bridge artificial intelligence with geoscience to better understand and protect our planet.

More than highlighting a single publication, this feature celebrates the people, collaborations, and institutions that have shaped my career over the years.

I am sincerely grateful to IEEE GRSS and Madeleine Dawson for the opportunity to share my story with the worldwide Earth observation community. I would also like to thank my mentors, collaborators, students, friends, and family for their continuous encouragement and support.

As a researcher from Thailand, I hope this story inspires more young scientists and engineers to pursue impactful research in GeoAI, Remote Sensing, and Artificial Intelligence, and to contribute to solving global challenges through science and innovation.
