While attending AOGS2026 in Fukuoka, Japan, I had the opportunity to present my GeoAI research and join two remarkable scientific field trips. From standing at the rim of the active Nakadake Crater within the Aso Caldera to exploring the historic water management systems of Asakura, this journey revealed how geology, natural hazards, engineering, culture, and resilience are deeply intertwined across Kyushu.
